Prickly Pear Margarita
1 T Red Nopal Cactus Powder
1 oz hot water
1.5 oz lime juice, plus a bit more if you like it tarter
1/2 oz Grand Marnier or Orange Brandy
1 oz Tequila
1/2 oz Torani Sugar Free Syrup
Mix the hot water with the cactus powder, stirring well to remove lumps. Add the rest of the ingredients, shaking or stirring well, serve over crushed ice or blend with ice. Serves 1, or 2 if adding sparkling water to it.
NB: if the prickly pear powder has extra fiber added to it, mix the powder with the water & lime juice before adding to the alcohols. It has a tendency to clump.
8x quantity:
1/2 C Red Nopal Cactus Powder
1 C hot water
1 1/2 C lime juice
1 C tequila
1/2 C orange brandy (brandy + 1/2 tsp orange extract)
1/2 C Torani Sugar Free syrup
Because I like it on the tart side, I add to the above
1/4 C lemon juice
Makes 5 cups. Serve over crushed ice and top with sparkling water for a refreshing (but very boozy) drink.
