To quote a famous song, "Looks like we made it..."

We got up at our usual "leaving day" hour, packed up everything, had some breakfast, captured and forced our will upon the kitties, and left the campground.

We drove in 4 different states today, starting in Missouri, crossing the Mississippi

Kelly even took a far away picture of the St. Louis Arch (in spite of the horrible roads which tried their best to ruin the shot!).

into Illinois

into Indiana

While gassing up, we saw a huge number of Amish people at the station.  Leaving the station, we noticed a sign about their presense on the roads:

and finally into Kentucky.

The drive was fairly uneventful (except for the absolutely horrible Interstate highway around St. Louis!  The Kitties are still considering writing a letter to the Misery (eh, "Missouri") Congress-person about that!)

We saw a few interesting pieces of architecture along the way, mostly in Louisville, where we were stuck in a lot of traffic for a while.

Louisville has far too many stadia!  (When do these people get work done with all of those events?)

After far too many hours (so say the kitties), we finally pulled into our site at Taylorsville Lake State Park

where upon the humans made the cats comfortable and quickly left for the local grocery store, which has a whole section devoted to Smoked Meats!

Having obtained yet more yummy food (none of it for the kitties, of course), we returned "home", had some cheese, crackers, & carrots along with the usual G&T, fed the cats (yes, they do get fed twice a day, despite what they may say), downloaded quite a few road pics, wrote up this absolutely wonderful description of our day, and called it an evening ("It's an evening!").

Tomorrow we will be traveling into the Great Smokey Mountains of Tennessee and North Carolina.  Along the way, we will be stopping off at Maryville, TN, at an Anazon Locker, where we had a few things delkivered.  This should be interesting!

Supposedly we will have no cellular where we're going, so you may not hear from us for 4 days!  We'll check back in, probably with a huge web page, when we can.

Good night!

We're back!
