There are a large number of plantations along the south side of the river and many of them are paying for themselves by running tours. We selected the Laura Plantation because (1) it was recommended by a New Orleans Information guy with whom we talked during our second day and also (2) it was a Creole Plantation and had a tour telling more of the authentic history of the area. 39 + 40 +(pics) 41 + 42 +We also drove by the [[Oak Alley Plantation>>https://www.oakalleyplantation.org/]], took our own picture of the alleyway of oaks leading toward the front (from the road because there was no place to stop), and visit the gift shop there. 43 + 44 +(pics) 45 + 46 + 47 +Returning to the north side of the river (the Mississippi runs east-west through this area), we then headed toward our campground for the night, "[[Indian Creek RV Park>>https://www.ldaf.state.la.us/about/indian-creek-recreation-area/]]". 48 + 49 + 50 +Little did we know what we were getting into next!
