316 miles

Left Big Spring and traveled past Fort Worth and Dallas, over to Bardwell Lake.  We wanted to check out some of the local RV parks east of Dallas to see what we may be getting into for viewing the 2024 eclipse.  It turns out that Bardwell Lake is right in the middle of the eclipse path, as is all of Ennis and Kaufman.  Furthermore, highway 34 seems to pretty much parallel the path of the eclipse, so traveling along that road would allow quick changing of sites at the last minute.  By being next to a lake, we could possibly see the eclipse coming toward us, which would be interesting.

Bardwell Lake is one of the Corps of Engineers sites, which are really cheap RV sites across the country.  They're always rather inexpensive but they usually don't have all of the amenities of other, more expensive, sites.

We had to stop at Cisco, TX, because, well,... Cisco!

We hit quite a lot of traffic around Fort Worth and south of Dallas, but it started to thin out when we started heading toward Bardwell Lake.

Arriving at the RV park (High View Campground), they were very friendly and directed us to our spot.

Kelly and I then took a short walk around the park, taking pictures of lots of flowers!

Here's a beautiful picture Kelly took, with her super-zoom lens, of a Great Blue Heron we saw!

I must admit I'm very worried about the massive thunderstorms with 2 inch hale and a chance of tornadoes, scheduled to arrive tomorrow afternoon!
