Left from Bardwell Lake right after getting up and having coffee.  The idea was to get to Lake Tawakoni (or, "Lake Walla-walla-bim-bam" for those of us who can't remember the name, you know who you are!) before the storm, so we could avoid being on the road during the rain and high winds.  If we couldn't checkin for about 2 hours, that's fine, we could park somewhere, have a late breakfast, and wait.

Crossing Bardwell Lake (on the only bridge over it), we entered Ennis, TX and headed up highway 34 toward I-20.

We stopped at a place for gas and Kelly decided to go into the liquor store which was right there, looking for Prickly Pear Syrup (yes, we're still thinking of those margaritas from a few days before).  They didn't have it but they thought the Walmart across the road would, so we went over there.  Didn't find any.  Sigh.  You can apparently buy it from Walmart's website but not in the store.  Bought some groceries and headed on our way.

We passed by the Lake Tawakoni Dam, which was spilling water over at the time, but there was no place to stop and we passed by so quickly, we didn't get a picture.  We'll see if we can photograph it on the way back out to the freeway.

So...  We made it to the campground ([[Lake Tawakoni RV Campground>>url:https://thousandtrails.com/texas/lake-tawakoni-rv-campground/]] - only took about 2 hours) and they told us that, "we don't have very many people right now, so if you want to go on in and pick your spot, feel free!"  Note, this was at least 2 hours before the supposed checkin time!  We drove around and around, looking at cell signal strength as well as locations where we could see the lake, finally picking a spot, got settled, called them back to say where we were, hooked up power and water (no sewage this time), settled the kitty with food, water, and litterbox, and [[took a walk>>Lake Tawakoni Flowers]].  It was only light sprinkles at the time.

Coming back to the trailer, we setup our wifi signal booster, and settled in.  Around 5pm local time, it actually did start raining with thunder and lightening.  The kitty doesn't seem to like it and it hiding in the bathroom, but he'll be ok.

We decided that since we can't really do much here today, and since we all just need a little break from constant traveling, we'll just stay an extra day!  Called up and found it's no problem and we can stay in our same spot.  So, tomorrow we'll probably unhitch the car and drive around a little.  Maybe take that picture of the dam.

The day after tomorrow, we head into Louisiana!
