After being extracted from the mud pit and verifying that turn signals and brake lights still work, we decided it would be best to travel to a very near RV Park to sort things out, and also just in case something else may be broken about which we were unaware.  We made a quick reservation at Indian Creek Rec. Area & RV Park and double checked with Gil about **exactly** how to get there!  Gil gave us very explicit directions (go this way, don't turn there, don't turn there, don't miss this turn, etc.) and we made it to the RV park just fine.

Interestingly, when we arrived at the park, we mentioned to the office people about having been stuck for 4 days in mud by following the GPS.  They didn't seem surprised at all and were sympathetic, thus making it clear they know this can be, and has been, a problem!  Yet, their web page has no directions on how to get there!  Richard has yet to write them about this.  Just you wait...

On the way to the campground, we stopped for groceries and of course there was a Dollar General store next door!  (There are Dollar General and Dollar Stores all over the place throughout Louisiana.  We even once saw Dollar General immediately next to Dollar Store!)  While Kelly was picking up groceries, Richard went to the Dollar Store to find a bucket of the appropriate size for placing under where the grey water was leaking.  After some confusion with the height of tub needed, we now had a plastic tub which could fit perfectly and catch water.

While waiting for Kelly to get back, a random stranger backed up to where Richard was in the car and mentioned that, "The person who was parked behind you is gone, so you can just back up and drive out now."  Richard mentioned that, "I was planning to go forward around the propane tank and circle back."  The stranger offered, "I'm not sure I'd do that.  I have a longer trailer than you, but when I tried that a while back, I found the ground really sank once you got off the pavement."  So, we backup up and drove out.  This is just a small sample of how all of these people in rural Louisiana just look out for each other!  Amazing people!

Calling around to a number of different RV Repair places, we kept being told that a lot of people are just beginning to use their RVs and thus repairs are at a peak right now.  (Of course, one must also wonder if the week of rain has caused problems as well.)  FInally, once place said, "You should call Affordable Camper Services.  Talk to Jerry there.  Here's his number".  So calling Jerry and explaining where we were and what had happened to us, resulting him offering to come out to our camp site and fix it.  (He later revealed that the only reason he had any time was because he had allowed 2 hours to fix a lady's problem and it took about 20 minutes.  He also later revealed that fixing our type of grey water leak would normally be a job for a beginner and that normally he doesn't do this type of work anymore.  Finally, he later revealed that if it were a black water problem, he definitely wouldn't be doing it at all!)

When Jerry arrived, we laid down some large black garbage bags over the mud (which had nothing to do with us - it was already there) on top of the concrete pad, but Jerry none-the-less got plenty muddy (as did Richard trying to help him out).  Cutting away the bottom covering of the trailer revealed that the grey water valve has completely broken in half!

When we told Jerry that we had to be leaving the next morning (the end of our reservation and the spot was already booked for the next day), he said that if we wanted, we could drive over to his place and park in his driveway.  That way, if it took more than the remaining hours in the day, we would have a place to stay.  (We later also found that he was thinking of cooking up a big pot of a stew he liked and was probably thinking of inviting us for dinner!  Did I mention how nice these people are?!)

Jerry had to drive away, get the parts, and drive back, but actually installing the part didn't take that long.  We tried to help fetching things he needed, holding pipes, etc., but sometimes it seemed as though we were just in the way.  (Jerry apologized for not being very conversation while he was working, that he usually works alone.)

After finishing up and verifying there was no more leak (yay!), we pilled gifts on him (some of Kelly's Lemoncello, one of the three windmill palms Michael gave us [saying for us to share them around to others], a big tip, and a Perrier water for the road), Jerry left a happy guy and were operational again!
